New Rule - AI Designation

Any content generated or significantly assisted by AI (text, images, or video) must be clearly labeled as such in the title or at the top of the body/comment. Failure to disclose may result in removal or ban.

We know that 100% accuracy in detecting AI is impossible, therefore it will be at moderator discretion, anything suspicious will be removed. I have requested that the AI Designation be put at the top of text so people are informed before reading.

This rule can be modified at any time, please discuss in this thread.

The stack Added 3 shiny cats to the clowder today at a great price! 🐈

TIL that a group of cats is called a clowder. I picked up these 3 and (while this will be exceptionally unpopular with some folks) I used my Chase Sapphire Reward points and redeemed them against my balance. So, when I say I got them for a great price...I basically got them for free. šŸ¤‘ Still got my 2% back with my Costco Executive membership.

Only need 17 more before I seal up the box and bury it deep in the safe for the next generation to find.

IMO, 1/2 oz is a nice size to stack. If gold becomes significantly more expensive in the future, having fractional will make it easier to liquidate if necessary.

Stack on and enjoy the journey! 🟔

Question Is this worth getting tested?

Here's what I know about this chain: 61cm long, 6mm wide, 44 grams. Missing clasp.

It's not magnetic, sinks like a stone in water, and has survived 30 minutes in white vinegar with no change to color or luster. There's no visible discoloration or signs of wear between any of the links.

Purchased in the early 1980s by my aunt for her husband. Definitely would have come from a jewelery store. The clasp broke at some point, he wore it frequently. He never got the clasp repaired/replaced due to cancer that took him pretty quick. It sat in a wooden box on my aunts dresser until 2018 when she passed away. The box had a couple pocket knives, some loose change, and this chain when it came into my possession. I've looked at the chain a few times but never thought much of it.

Until I came across this subreddit a couple months ago.

So, does it look like it's worth getting professionally tested?

The stack Latest Additions

Recent additions to the stack.

FWIW, about 1/2 is from MintBuilder, and other than glacially slow shipping, I have nothing bad to say about them. Excellent pricing, great communication. And yes, everything tests good on my Sigma.

The Rooster was LCS and the rest a ā€˜silver for services’ trade with a friend. Gotta love those opportunities… šŸ˜€

I did the gun test on a $5 liberty. Tested 87%. LCS wouldn’t take it as it is but scrap gold at 83.33%.

Should I send to ngc/pcgs to grade and verify? Is it unusual that it is not as ā€œpureā€ as it should be at 90%?

Speculation Gold Thesis —> Chinese Yuan hits strongest level against the U.S. Dollar since 23

Post image

We have been talking about the breakdown of the USD for years and the implications for gold. I think the Yuan v USD tape is showing the cracks and the gold bull case. As the dollar weakens and people look for a place to go. Gold is only going to get stronger. Crypto hasn’t worked out for folks. Back to the OG currency. Gold.

I found this two-toned ring. The only mark that there is engraved inside of it is this "585". Could it be white and yellow gold? It's a bit tarnished (?) though...that's why im not really sure.

Question Is gold nugget jewellery worth more than the gold nuggets themselves?

Thumbnail

These were gifted to me: one gold nugget pendant set in an 18k gold bail, and a pair of gold nugget earrings set in 9k gold bails and needles. Are they generally more valuable than gold nuggets that haven’t been made into jewellery? I’m not selling them at the moment; I’d just like to understand their value. Thanks!

Update on my e-waste collection for gold.

So a little over a month ago, I had posted a picture of what I’ve collected so far from all the electronics I’ve took apart . So practically it’s been a little over two months now since I’ve started E waste recycling. The last 5 pictures were taken today. Any thoughts?

Also, I have another box full of items that I thought maybe could be reused or have some value to it. From the electronics I’ve broken down. But I have that at the Storage also with some copper wire that I have stripped From cables.

Lastly, if you’re gonna come on here and tell me that I’m wasting my time or it’s not worth it. I have all the time in the world. Plus I enjoy doing this. So take your negativity elsewhere.
