We’re saying goodbye to our sweet baby tomorrow. We’ve spent the past week with her, letting her eat whatever she wants, hugging her, and crying. She had her 24th birthday on the 3rd, and things went downhill so fast after that. Personality wise, she’s her amazing self. But her arthritis is so bad. I know this is the right thing for her, but my heart is so broken. I’ve had her for over half my life. She’s been my best friend for so long. I just don’t know how to say goodbye. *I just wanted to add the junk food is from this morning. She has always had a very healthy diet.

I know I didn’t go into a whole lot of detail, but her arthritis is so bad that she can’t hold herself steady to eat anymore. She falls over when walking sometimes, or gives up all together and just lays down. We tried laser treatments last month, and it helped a little bit. But she took a sudden turn right after her birthday. Since it got so bad, I have been pushing her around the house in her stroller so she can always be with us. Making this decision is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Seeing her like this, when she’s always been so active and happy, broke my heart for her. Shes so tired all the time now, and I can see how much pain she’s in.

Please give your floofers an extra treat for him tonight. He's 13 and has an inoperable mass in his throat. I brought him and his brother home when I was in my first apartment, and he's seen me through moves, partners, jobs, illness, everything. He's been my rock for so long, I don't know what I'm going to do without his constant presence in my life. 😢

Hey guys so I guess I got hit with the cat distribution system today! So I’m a street sweeper working on a project and was sweeping when I thought I saw a cat on the road I originally thought he was yk. So I swinged back around and nope little guy was still alive just super frightened. Ended up stopping at a dollar general got some food and a collar. Still don’t know what to name him. Anyways just wanted to share my joy with you guys today!

My cat died. If you look at this story not from the perspective of current events, but from a philosophical standpoint, it's not so sad. She died at 19 from adenocarcinoma. I'm a single young man, and although I love cats, I never planned on getting one. But I periodically went to the cat shelter to help clean cages and feed them, and I fell in love. They told me she was two years old. I thought, wow, I'm going to have to live with her for a long time. Then, while I was away on a business trip, she developed an eye infection from the dust in her new, cramped cage. They took her to the vet, and he said that, judging by her teeth, she was about 15 years old. A week before I was supposed to take her, the cat's former owners showed up at the shelter and said she was 17 years old and had belonged to a relative, and after his death, she had become a burden to everyone and had been put out on the street. They said they would now think about whether to take her or not. The shelter said they'd give her to me, and that's how love came to be in my home. She was the most affectionate and grateful creature. She'd jump up to me as soon as I sat on the couch, purring just at the mere fact that I was in the room. She'd patiently wait on weekends until I'd had enough sleep so she could get fresh food, and she always wanted to snuggle into my lap. Because of her age, she slept a lot. She lived with me for two years, and then faded away. She refused to eat because she was in pain, and the doctors refused to operate because she was old and would have died from the anesthesia. I'd force pâté down her throat with a syringe so she'd have the strength to climb into my lap again. But nothing lasts forever. I have her veterinary passport, a certificate of honor from the shelter, a tuft of her fur with her scent, and the memory that after my death, someone is waiting for me there, on the other side of the rainbow.

If you recall Peep and “He bit my roommate so I’m posting his ugliest pics” about a year ago. Well roommate is now bf (good) and Peep still has a biting problem (bad) when he’s not getting what he wants (9 times out of 10, my bf’s attention - he is obsessed to an unhealthy degree and I think would deliberately cause me to fall out of a 3rd story window if it meant more time alone with him)

Also he’s been spoiled horribly. He has to be pet while he eats and screams for my bf to carry him to his bowl.

Original: Peep Saga Part 1

I said goodbye to Chester this afternoon. He battled with ckd for the past 5 years and the past few months were the hardest.

I went to the shelter in November of 2019 and this little orange guy reached out and hooked himself on my jeans. He chose me in that moment and I’m so incredibly blessed to have chosen him back.

We had a rocky start during Covid but he taught me how to be a cat mom after only ever having dogs in my childhood. He sat with me when I was teaching to middle schoolers online, cuddled with me during my breakups, and kept me giggling through all his goofiness. Chester arrived in my life when I was 26 and stuck with me through what I would consider my toughest battles in life. Everyone that met him loved him. A few people even told me they changed their minds about cats after they met him. He was a sweetie pie.

Chester was diagnosed with ckd in 2021 but we managed over the years to keep him in good health. However, Chester needed teeth pulled twice over the last few years and the last time was this past January. They did bloodwork like normal and were concerned with his downturn in appropriate kidney levels as well as blood pressure. He was put on so many meds and a special diet over the years. In May/June his decline really started progress with his loss of appetite. Though it was manageable, he was losing weight. I had numerous conversations with the vet about keeping him comfortable and letting him decide when it was time.

I guess I thought I had more time with Chester. I went on a mini vacation at the end of July and came home to a cat that would barely eat and in pain from a hurt claw. We went in to the vet and again, I thought I had more time. We got new meds and sub q fluids but unfortunately nothing helped.

It all happened so fast today. The vet called about bloodwork this morning and Chester was so lethargic the last few days, I had to carry him around the house. So the recommendation was made to help Chester pass on. I called a wonderful group of people for at home hospice. The ending was beyond difficult but being able to hold him as he left this existence was all I could ask for. All within a few hours. I think I’m in shock.

I have another kitty at home with me but it feels so eerily empty here. Like I’m forgetting a task that needs to be completed. I see Chester in every inch of our home. It’ll take some time to learn how to be without him.

I love Chester with all my being and would do it all again just to have some more time with him. I do know in my heart that we will meet again one day, in this life or the next.

Go hug your babies. You never know how much time is left.

He was a jerk to his younger brother, but he was an amazing companion. I still miss him.

Ive been considering getting a cat since April. Ive gone through some personal struggles and ive doubted whether im ready for a cat. I lost my family to divorce recently and my wife got to keep my dog. So ive had this void in my heart. Everyday I came home I felt worse cause there was nothing at home.

Today my daughter and I went to the local animal shelter and we picked out a new member of my family. Hes a black and brown boy named Sazh. He is so loving and affectionate and im already thanking that I now have this boy in my life. I know my daughter is super excited too.

My sweet Walter crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday afternoon and I miss him so much.

He was somewhere between 17-20 years old and was really starting to struggle with his CKD.

My heart is very heavy today, but I'm relieved to know that his pain is gone.

I’m devastated. She was everything to me.

My soul cat's time is coming to an end, and I am heartbroken. I wasn't expecting to replace her. But baby Banshee stole my heart. These are all pictures of our trip to south dakota, montana, wyoming, washington, and idaho.
